Pōt·pöur·rï´ - a confused collection; a miscellaneous mixture; a medley; a hotchpotch ( Webster’s Unabridged); a farrago; a gallimaufry.
What better title for a grab bag of stuff I’ve been throwing into a file for many years. Things that tickled my funny bone or caught my eye for any number of reasons and I just couldn’t force myself to throw away –Yeah! I know – some of you readers wish I had. In addition there are some short stories that I wrote since my retirement.
Many of my short stories had their origin in a dream. Not necessarily the entire story but the germ of the idea it’s built on. I like to read short stories because they’re easy, avoiding the necessity of following a complicated plot with gadzillion characters all to be found in a heavy, hard to hold, tome.
But, I’ve been told they are out of vogue and, in any event, not commercially advisable as evidenced by the couple of publishers I’ve submitted stuff to and been swiftly rejected. I really don’t care because it’s kind o’fun writing them. Like this site, a collection of short items is easy to read at any time and switch off without feeling you’re missing anything. -
So here is the olio that I liked. Whether you will or not is up to you. Regardless of your ultimate rating of these be aware I’ve got a whole box full of more of this trivia and I'll continue to add to them; God be willing and the crick don't rise.
