Pot-pöur-rï
•••••••••••••••••••••
A confused collection; a miscellaneous mixture;
a medley; a hotchpotch (Webster’s Unabridged)
FOREWORD
What better title for a grabbag of stuff I’ve been throwing in a file for many years, things
that tickled my funny bone or caught my eye for any number of reasons and I just couldn’t
force myself to throw away – I know – some of you readers wish I had. In addition,
there are some short stories that I wrote since my retirement.
Many of my short stories have their origin in a dream. Not necessarily the entire story
but the germ of the idea it’s built on. I like to read short stories because they are,
well – short. They usually don’t require the necessity of following a complicated plot
with a gadzillion characters all to be followed in a heavy, hard to hold, tome. But,
I’ve been told they are out of mode and, in any event, not commercially advisable as
evidenced by the couple of publishers I’ve submitted stuff to and been swiftly rejected.
I really don’t care because it’s kind o’fun just writing them. Like this site, a collection
of short items is easy to “pick up” and read at any time and stop doing so without feeling
you’re missing anything.
So, here is the oleo that I liked. Whether you will or not is up to you. Regardless of
your ultimate rating of these, be aware, I’ve got a whole box full of more of this trivia
and, if you criticize it too badly, I’ll publish some more and foist it on you.
