A common sight, after a rainstorm in Florida are large flocks of seagulls standing on open expanses of pavement such as parking lots, all facing the same way. Why do they do that? At first I thought they may all be facing into the wind but their behavior is the same when it’s calm. In this they act similarly to cows in an open field. For that matter, why do cows do that?
The ubiquitous plastic 1.75 litre booze bottle has a notch in the bottom. One might assume that it has something to do with manufacturing or filling the bottle but does anyone know its correct purpose?
We have two squirrels that live in the small wooded area in back of our condo. When these Florida oaks lose their leaves every year one can see the squirrel’s nest high up in a “V” of branches of one of the trees. In the late spring and early summer they do a lot of running around chasing each other which one can assume has something to do with the mating process. However, we have never seen any little, baby squirrels. How come?
